NEW BLOG.

Hey guys!

Well, as most of you know, I'm now doing a Discipleship Training School with Youth With A Mission. I am currently based in Hawaii, as I do my lecture phase, and will be heading to Togo, West Africa in December for 3 months to do some outreach stuff there.

I have started a new blog to keep people updated with my life, and to share how God has been blessing me lately. I don't have a lot of time for the computer, therefore I will be only writing posts on there for now, until I feel like God wants me to continue this.

Heres the link!

Little Update!!

The news is full of sad stories that goes on all around the world. So many countries are full of injustice that is broadcasted for the world to see. Have you ever wanted to help conquer these issues? Or get down to the bottom of why they are happening? So many children are captive, and are made into soldiers, as well as dealing with other issues such as genocides, poverty, aids, human trafficking, living on the streets. I would see these things on television, in books, magazines, but never did anything in my life to try and make a change within these situations, until now.

I am embarking on a journey to make a difference. To change the lives of those who are living within the injustice of their nations. If we don’t take a step forward to try and make things right for those around us, who will? It’s time to get out of our comfort zones, and do the Lords work in those places that we are too scared to touch. When God is with us, all things are possible, and with that said, I am super excited to get to travel His nations, to do His work, with a team of young people who have their hearts fully devoted to God. I want to be able to see Him work through us, for His light to shine through the darkness of the injustice. His plan is to use us for His glory, and I am taking that step, waiting to be used by Him.

On September 28th, I will begin my journey to Hawaii where I will be a student with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) being a part of a Discipleship Training School (DTS). The lecture phase will be based in Kona, Hawaii, where we will spend approximately 12 weeks learning about justice issues before we head out into the field. Our outreach phase location will be decided for each individual shortly after we arrive in Kona. The locations that are being chosen for us, are Cambodia, Thailand, Togo, or Haiti as of right now. These destinations could be changed, but as for right now, these are the places that we will most likely be going.

There are approximately 50 students who are going to be apart of this DTS. For our outreach, we will be divided into teams of 10-15. We will be spending Christmas on our Outreach with families that are a lot less fortunate than us, which will be very interesting to see them on Christmas day within their cultures. This, I must say I am very much looking forward to being a part of. Although I know it may be rough to see, and my heart will ache more than ever for these people, I know God is going to show all of us amazing things!

Through facebook, a number of the students attending this DTS have been in contact and are extremely excited to meet one another and get started on this adventure God has picked out for us! A lot of us are still in need of financial aid and prayers. The total cost of this trip is approximately between $12 000 & 13 000 US. We are unable to get Student Loans for this, therefore we need to fully rely on God and trust that He is in control, and will provide for our needs. Which is crazy amazing, and such a great faith builder! I am currently short of $3 000, and leave in less than 2 weeks! Thankfully, I do not need all the money until the end of November.

If you do feel lead to sponsor me financially, there are 2 ways to do so. You may send it directly to the school through their mailing address,

You are precious.

Like a gem, you a precious, and ready to shine once the sunlight hits you. You may have some cracks, some rust, some dirt, but you are still precious to those around you. You are the same as the others, but yet so different and rare.

Lately I have been saying "Embrace it, Love it!!" to literally everything going on or being said around me. Embrace the differences you have, and embrace the differences they have. God has made you, therefore you are beautiful. God does not make junk, and He makes everyones life matter. Love every single moment in time, for it is what God has given you; for it is the journey that God has placed in your life. He has a pathway for you, and even though you don't know where that path leads yet, and the road can have some hardcore bumps and turns, God is holding your hand through it all. You may not agree with whatever is happening throughout your life, or you may not agree with something someone else does, but God has given us grace, compassion, forgiveness and love for a reason, use it! So many people around you, who struggle with their lives, need you to step up to the plate, and make an effort to be that person that God wants you to be. The one who is no longer afraid to speak to a stranger, the one who makes the effort to get to know more and more about that individual sitting alone on the bench. Get out of your comfort zone, that person may be running out of hope, and you could be the one about to change their whole perspective on what life really is. God wants us to reach out, and not to be scared. So let's go for it! I challenge you to go up to someone that you may see from time to time, but never speak to. They need some encouraging words, and I believe that God wants to use you to deliver His words to them! How precious and awesome is that?

Life is a journey. A crazy journey in which God has set for us. Each of our lives are filled with different stories, thoughts and worries. What's so awesome is that with God, we don't need to worry, we don't need to feel useless, we don't need to think about what others think of us, or whatever else we think about, because life is God. We cannot have life without Jesus, and we should want to share our lives through Christ towards others! Don't be stuck in a group of individuals, it's great to have your friends and work hard to keep them, but don't be scared to reach out! I was watching To Save A Life tonight, which I totally recommend everyone to watch! It's pretty incredible. It just really got me thinking + really made me feel the need to share this message with all of you! :)

They will neither hunger nor thirst, nor will the desert heat or the sun beat upon them. He who has compassion on them will guide them and lead them beside springs of water.

Day #7: Offerings to God.

So I'm working at a Christian Camp, therefore I was unable to continue these online blogs. Sorry! But here's a new one! I'll be trying to post more this week!

Leviticus 4:32-35

Read this in a slow soft voice. Really think about what it is saying. You may think that it is confusing, but just try and focus and understand what this passage says, because it has such great significance.

Think of why God would want these offerings to happened in such a unique way. Was it so that everyone would be able to see the offerings? Was it because the blood of the lambs that were slain was to represent Jesus’ blood because He was the Lamb Of God? Do you think that He was cruel to let the animals suffer to bring Him offerings? Why or Why not? Do you think that we should still have these offerings today?

These offerings happened before Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Therefore, when I think about these offerings being done now, I fully believe that it is very unnecessary for us to commit such offerings. God has sent His song down as His offering to us, and we made Him die by being nailed to a cross so that God could forgive our sins. We may have moments where we struggle with forgiving ourselves for something that we have done, and even if we know that God forgives us, we sometimes have a hard time believing. How can we let someone forgive us before we can even forgive ourselves? A lot of times we put all the blame on ourselves, and we have a hard time focusing on solving our problem of forgiveness, so we let ourselves become more upset as the days go by. Listen brothers and sisters, God forgives you, for whatever it is that you have done. During your time with God, focus on searching for answers in the Bible about forgiveness. Take time to pray, and talk to God about the sin you feel so horrible about.

Jesus took all sins away from us once He was nailed to that cross. We need not worry about God forgiving us, we should worry more about committing that sin again. So many times we apologize for sins that we have done in the past, but that we continue doing. Think about this… God has sacrificed His ONLY son Jesus for us, and we are not willing to give up our greatest sin for Him? God has made it clear that no sin is bigger than any other sin, and that all things are possible through Him. Those two promises that are stated in the Bible fit together perfectly. No need to boast about how well you are doing compared to others, because any sin you are committing is equal to whatever sin they are doing. It’s society that classes sins from best to worst. There is no good sin, so just give it up, and stop fighting and finding ways to try and make it sound okay to do, because there is no sin that is okay in God’s eyes, and those eyes are the only ones that matter. If you believe that you want to quit this sin, but do not have the strength to do it, well let me tell you something… You always have the strength in Jesus Christ! Nothing is impossible with His help. Sometimes we have a hard time believing in ourselves to be able to quit, or to be able to do something that we are nervous about, but just remember your reasoning for it. If you are doing everything for God, He will be there with you every step of the way, carrying you through every obstacle and ocean that you come to. He is pulling you through the jungle of the world. If you really believed everything you tell people about God, you would have no doubt in your mind that you are able to do whatever it is you have trouble with. You will be able to do it because you will know that it’s not you doing the work through God, but that it is God doing the work through you. You don’t need to believe in yourself, but you need to believe in God. God is capable of all things, and He is working in your life during every breath you take. He is there with you, and you CAN do this. You can get through this, just pray and look for answers/encouragement in the Bible. He’s waiting to encourage you, but it’s a lot harder for Him to do so if we don’t have our hearts and ears open to Him. Tomorrow is too late, start right now, before it’s too late. Make the change, take the step, believe in God, believe in His power, His righteousness.

There are so many reasoning’s for the things God has planned. We may never understand them fully, but they always have purposes. Think of something that has happened in the past that made you feel like God’s reasoning wasn’t right. Reflect on your life afterwards, and how that one experience that you may have not fully understood why the situation happened the way it did, has benefited you in the end. Whenever something happens that we don’t want to happen, we end up doubting God. We always ask God how He could let these things happen, but the real question is, how could we let these things happen? Just because we have an amazing and powerful God, does not mean that we have the right to slack off in life, because we expect Him to pick up our messes. God wants to work through us, not do the work for us. We’re so quick to blame God, but never quick to blame Satan, or ourselves.

Pray in thanks to God for His biggest sacrifice. He is amazing, and I cannot imagine ever doing what He did, or going through what Jesus has gone through. If you need a reminder of how horrible everything that Jesus went through, I suggest that you read it again in your Bible, but also watch The Passion Of Christ. If you haven’t seen it yet, or haven’t seen it recently, it’ll blow your mind. Jesus did such a hugely amazing thing for us, and yet whenever we sin, it’s as if we are spitting on His bloody face. We need to pray that God works in us, and tell Him that we are ready to be fully His, so that He can take over our lives to its fullest! We need to start REALLY believing and acknowledging that He is capable, even when we are not.

Live your every day lives thanking God vocally for whenever you see something beautiful here on earth that He has placed here for us to see. Express your gratitude for each time you think about the pain He must have felt while watching His Son die on that cross, and get beaten over and over again before His death. Thank God for your life! He has allowed us to live without sin, and that is the most wonderful thing that we should focus on in our lives. God has forgiven us, and it’s time to start forgiving ourselves.

God's gifts to us!

I know, this is the 4th blog that I’m writing that isn’t with my devotional book, but God has just been speaking to me, telling me to write these things to you, therefore, if you don’t like it, well HA, too bad!

A few weeks ago at a Bible Study that was being held at my house, our pastor spoke about the gift that God gives each and every one of us. This passage I am basing this post on is in Romans 12, so open up your bibles, and follow along! I pray that as you do, God shows you something completely different in these passages than what He has showed me.

The beginning of this passage reminds us that without focusing completely on God, we get tied up in worldly issues and things that will not matter later on in life. We are to forget worldly things and give all our heart, mind, and soul to our Lord in every minute of our lives, which none of us do. It’s so easy to just think and focus about all the evil that the news and tabloids show us, but reality is that everything on this planet is evil. We are surrounded by sin everywhere we turn, and instead of trying to avoid it, we have debates in our heads about how bad it really is. Moral of the story, if you have any doubt or feeling that whatever you’re doing/thinking isn’t right, than you shouldn’t be doing/thinking it. Even though we know these things, the arguments in our heads are always based on what God wants us to do, vs. what we want to do to. God is sinless, we are not, to be cleansed, part of the deal is to give everything up to God and do all that He wants for us. It’s not just praying a simple prayer and then going back to the lives we have always lived. We are to be transformed, to be completely made new. It’s either live one way or the other, enough of “living on the edge”, because you know what happens when you live on the edge? You end up falling hard, begging for help, praying and hoping that this isn’t the end of your life, because if it is, your life feels wasted.

While we live on the edge, we always assume that it’s fine because there is always someone worse than you in the world, doing something horrible. Did you know the Bible says that no sin is bigger than any other sin in God’s eyes? So to Him, if you treat someone with disrespect, its the same thing as if you were committing murder. That’s the truth, and sure it hurts, but we’re made to be His, and His word is true, who are we to judge the word of the Lord? It’s time to rethink your thoughts, and give everything up to God. Stop judging, because all it does it put others down, and leads you to boast yourself up higher. No one likes someone who is cocky, be honest and true to yourself, others and God because that is what is important. Remember that you are a part of God’s body, and so are others around you. Just like our body parts, every part of His is different, and made for different things. God gave you a gift, learn what it is and how to use it properly; how to honour our Father with the gifts He has given you.

The first gift this passage talks about is prophesying, those who have this gift shall honour God by working hard in growing in faith, and spreading His word to others in every opportunity possible. Don’t pass up the opportunities God has given you, because those are the things that make you who you are and who you are going to be. An experience with the Lord can change someone’s life completely. Share the word of God, and you will be greatly rewarded.

Serving is not a gift for everyone, although I feel that it is important for everyone to try to serve as much as you can, because we are to follow Jesus’ example, and He was put on this earth to serve. It is very important as a Christian to be willing to serve anyone at anytime, although our human nature does make it difficult at times, we must pray to be more willing to do this. Everyone could always use some help in whatever circumstance. Just be strong in the Lord, and no matter how difficult the task may seem, with God, nothing is impossible as long as you have faith in Himself and yourself.

Teaching is definitely not easy for everyone, but that doesn’t mean that we aren’t able to teach. Maybe we feel uncomfortable about teaching because we think about it as something that can only be done verbally. We can still teach others through our actions, by serving God, helping others and ignoring worldly things and focusing on what really matters, God. Sometimes actions can make a bigger impact than words.

I think my favourite gift of all is the gift of encouragement. Without encouragement, so many people would not even recognize their gifts, talents, and how precious they are in God’s eyes. I challenge each of you to encourage somebody today, in any way possible. Everyone needs encouragement, and without it, so many people would be lost and feel hopeless in the world. Instead of thinking bad thoughts about someone, think of a way you can encourage them, because maybe they are acting the way they are because they feel like the mean nothing; because they feel useless, which is due to no encouragement or love in their lives. You don’t know what is happening around them, and what they have going on in their minds, so I just pray that you are able to encourage someone today and by doing so, you will also be encouraged.

Some people have the gift of giving, and the world needs more people who are willing to give. So many countries are in need of help, and if you are someone who has the gift of giving, I pray that someone encourages you to keep going with all the contributions you have done, because what you are doing is great, and we need more people who are like you. Don’t be scared to give to much, and to be stuck with nothing, God will always provide for you as long as listen and do what He wants you to do. He is a gracious giver, just have faith that He will not leave you astray, He will always reward you and never leave you empty. He is ready to give you everything you need, even if you are ready to give it all away. You are serving Him, and that is what matters. It may be challenging, but I promise you, you will be better off after you have given away whatever you feel is needed to be given.

Many people are meant to be leaders, but do not know how to act upon their leadership abilities. Don’t be scared to show people that you are a leader, and use it for God. To show others how important He is in your life, and how many great things that He has done in your life, and that He will do in theirs as well. Let them know that you may be a leader, but God is still you’re leader. Never ever forget that, because that is what is important in your life, along with everyone else’s.

Once again, praying for you all!
Until next time!

Are you willing?

Alright people! Time to focus, and use your minds. I have highlighted questions in this post that I want all of you to take time and focus on, to be able to find direct truthful answers. God will show you something individually to each of you. I pray that He speaks into each of your lives as you continue on in this blog. I tend to think to much sometimes, but in doing so, God shows me so much! So I challenge you to really concentrate on these questions! So let's begin shall we?.. :)

Luke 22 reminds us of so many things. I want you to first read the passage on your own, and think about being in Peters position and try and answer these questions. Would you fight with Jesus if He told you that He knew you would deny Him 3 times by the end of the day? Would you stick up for Jesus even if you knew you could be killed for believing that He is the Messiah?

The first thing that it reminds us of is how often and easily we exchange our faith for worldly things that won't last forever. We so often let ourselves get distracted from God and our spiritual lives only to please others, and to do wrong things with them. Why aren't we as easily distracted from our friends and worldly lives to please God? Some would say because we are surrounded by worldly things, like news and gossip. I however, don't believe that. I use to, until just now actually. We are also surrounded by Gods love and beauty, whether it's the beauty He made for us to see within Nature, or individuals, children. Seeing the good and beauty in the things all around us. That is all from God, & why would/should we shut that out to fill our hearts, minds, and souls with junk that makes us lose our positive focus? It's just not rational, right?

The second thing that it reminds us is that we shall never put ourselves before others. We are of no higher class of any other individual on this earth, no matter what our ranking in society is. Jesus shows us this as He kneels down to wash His disciples feet. He made it very clear that He was a servant of God, and that was His duty on earth. We are also God's servants, which means we are servants to others as well. That is what God has called us to do. We need to remember to listen to God's directions for our lives, so that we can be the servants that He wants us to be. Are you willing to serve? Are you willing to give up everything that you have to become an individual child of God who is willing to serve others to show His love? We need to be willing to do these things, to show the differences between Christians and nonbelievers. It was what we were put on earth to do; serve Him, worship Him, praise Him, and show His love to others.

Some of us have a hard time acknowledging that Jesus was in fact human. Somehow we forget that during the crucifixion, Jesus questioned God on if this was really what He wanted Him to do. It's not like Jesus was all excited to get tortured, He had feelings towards the issue, on which He cried out to God asking questions. He needed the reassurance that this is what God put Him on earth for. He was a true servant of our Father, which shows through His crucifixion. God sent an angel down to tell Him that this is what He had planned for Jesus' life, to prepare Him for what was about to happen. Jesus now knew that this was His purpose on earth, what He was born to do. He did not run away from God's plan, He followed it, as we all should. Jesus ended up dying for a great cause, and we need to be willing to do the same if that is what God has called us to do. Are you willing to die for God? This is something you should really reflect on. No matter what we go through, if it's God's will, He will prepare us as He prepared Jesus. Maybe it won't be as clear as sending an angel down to us, but as long as we listen to His words, we can be positive that God is preparing us currently for whatever that has yet to come. He will always prepare us, and equip us with what we need to survive, as long as we have faith in His abilities, nothing in our lives will be lost, but everything will be gained. We just need to have enough faith to be able to believe that. Do you have enough faith?

Verses 47-53 got me thinking of how many times we let Jesus down, by acting out aggressively towards others, meanwhile He cleanses us from all sin. As Jesus was being put to be crucified, one of His disciples chose to act aggressively towards the guard who was bringing Jesus to be tortured. The disciple sliced the guards ear off, and Jesus was very disappointed in his actions. He stated that He has never shown or disrespected someone like that, therefore he would never want his disciple do such an act. He then repaired the mans ear, and by doing so, He shows us that we should be treating all others the same as God wants them to be treated, respectfully, lovingly, and kindly so that we can show them what God is like, and be an example to others. Instead of fighting back, we need to show God's love by doing something good for our enemies & no matter what the circumstances are, be strong in the Lord, and He will make you strong enough for Life itself.

In verses 54-65, we are reminded that no matter how hard we try and deny that we will sometimes lack faith, or become embarrassed of our faith, that we end up hiding it through tough times, these situations do occur. When we do these things, we are choosing to hide our relationship with God. When was the last time you hid your faith/relationship with God? Why were you embarrassed to show your love for God? Why did you find it difficult to share? Why did you feel uncomfortable? We need to think about these questions, and answer them truthfully. For each of us, the answers will be completely different. Reflect on these questions, because unless you do, you will continue to deny the Lord's presence in your life more and more each and every day of your life. We need to start looking at the problems in our relationship with God, and for all of us, I don't care who you are, this is the biggest problem of them all. It needs to be focused on, continuously. Each time you find yourself denying God, I want you to think of these questions as you're in the situation. Answer them truthfully, because if not, you'll only be lying to yourself, and God, in which both of you already know the truth, so there is no point in lying. Do not doubt God, He knows everything about you and your future, where as you know nothing. Do not contradict the Lords words to you, or His plans for you. You will only continuously make a fool out of yourself.

The last part of Luke 22 reminds us that God has always shown us and told us that He is real, that He is living in each one of us. Why should He fight against us if He has already given us proof of His existence? God is willing to take over, but He wants us to choose for ourselves that He is living, and the One Christ and to see how much we will doubt Him along with His existence. That is like saying I am nonexistent as I stare at myself through a mirror, as I type this with a witness beside me. It is obvious that we are living, it's just leaving our stubbornness aside as we move on with our faith.

This chapter is a great part in the Bible, and I really hope that it spoke to you like it spoke to me. I pray that God speaks directly in each and every one of your lives.

Sending lots of love, peace and blessings your way!

Spiritual Refreshment!

This weekend I spent my time at a camp where I worked at last summer and where I will continue to work at this summer. All the staff of 2010 were there, aside from a few who couldn’t make it. This weekend was suppose to be a training for all the staff, and although we did get training, I found that it was more like a retreat for me. I felt so at peace with everything and everyone, and I just enjoyed the company of my fellow coworkers.
Along with training, we also did some worship sessions to deliver more of spiritual development with our Lord Jesus Christ. Everyone was tremendously blessed by our worship sessions, and our boss did a terrific job leading us into the Word of our Lord, and here I am about to share what has refreshed my mind & soul this weekend!

On Friday we focused on putting God first in our lives, and began to explore what God’s will was for our lives. Each and everyone of us are put on this earth to be followers of Christ, and this is what God’s will is for us. Jesus was brought on this earth to show the world what Our Father is like, to set an example on earth for us to live like. In order to do this, we need to believe that God is capable of changing everything in our lives, and we need to trust Him fully with every little thing.

A great example of this is found in Luke 5:1-11. Jesus showed a boat full of fishermen that He knew best, no matter how much experience they had with fishing. He went out into the water with Simon Peter and his fellow fishermen. They were fishing all night, and never caught a single fish, but once Jesus gave them direction, everything had changed. Jesus had told them to fish on the opposite side of the boat, Simon did not believe that this would work, but did as the Messiah had asked. Their nets became loaded with fish, and Simon Peter felt horrible for not believing in Jesus’ power and word. Even though they has betrayed Jesus by not believing in His words of wisdom, He forgave them, and told them not to worry, because they will now be fishers of men.

This passage is so much like our everyday lives. Jesus is with us during our troubles and journeys, and we always doubt the direction that He gives us, meanwhile once we realize that we were in the wrong, we feel ashamed and hurt for not trusting God. Let us not forget that Jesus is the only one who can Forgive all and everything. This is why we have other chances to listen to His words for our lives. If we do listen, we will be greatly rewarded, as Simon was with all the fish in His nets.

We may doubt God, but if we do take His direction for our lives, we will be greatly rewarded. This is a perfect story to prove that! We are human, and we will always have our doubts no matter how hard we try, about whatever it is that we are having difficulties with, the great thing about our difficulties is that we have Jesus who took away the biggest difficulty of all! Our sins! He died and went through the worst torture anyone could ever even imagine, for all of us to be able to live freely, without this sinful burden in our lives, as long as we have faith and live our lives the way God wants us to. We are so spoiled in that sense. God gives us things we don’t deserve. He sent His Son down on earth for us to die! Can you imagine killing your own son for others freedom of strangers?

I was taught this weekend that while studying the Word of the Lord, there are two questions you should always ask yourself. The first is, What Does This Tell Me About God? In this specific passage, I think it tells us that no matter how much we do not believe that God’s direction may not be the right direction for us, or that it may not work for whatever situation we are in, that He knows exactly what will happen. God will fill up our nets with plenty of fish, as long as we give Him the chance to and listen to His directions.

On Saturday we focused on Making right decisions and how it’s all about God’s will, not our own. We broke down some verses in 1 Corinthians 1:18-31. The first verse we broke down was verse 18, which was broken down to The Cross Is The Center Of All We Believe.

If we are Christians, this has to be a fact; it needs to be true to our lives. We need to believe the bible, and that Jesus has died on that cross for our sins. A lot of Christians still struggle with the existence of Jesus, but for me, when I look at that cross, there is no doubt in my mind that Jesus was and is the Messiah. If you are someone who struggles with Jesus being the Messiah, I advise you to read the bible way more than you do now. Get your soul nourished! God will show you the light, and teach you the ways. Don’t be scared to go and open up your bible to have a little devotion before bed. If its not something that scares you, why aren’t you already doing it? Take the time to search for answers, they’re right there, it just takes you to really want to find out the answers to the questions you have in your head. God will answer them for you, just spend time in His word, and pray.

In verse 19, we came to the conclusion that God dismisses human wisdom for salvation. What we meant by that was how so many people believe that just being a good person will get you to heaven, and it will just carry you through the gates towards God. Reality can be scary, but this is not the way to get to Heaven. It will not work, and it is human wisdom for salvation. If this were true, Jesus would have never been sent here to die for us. In the Bible it states that no sin is bigger than any other sin. So whether you are committing a murder, or telling a fib (little white lie), it is all the same in God’s eyes, it’s sin. You need to live your life fully for God, and pray and seek the ways that He wants you to live. You also need to ask for forgiveness for all the sinful things you have done, and no longer hide or lack faith in His existence. You need to believe it, feel it, and spend time with the word. Feel His spiritual presence, and you will never have a doubt about his existence again, as long as you live like Jesus did.

Sadly, we all know that we’re human, and although it was very hard for Jesus, we seem to think it would be even harder for ourselves. Well, I got news for you, Jesus even had His questions He had to ask God, so don’t be scared to ask them, He will answer! If we have faith in God, and in ourselves, nothing is impossible. We just need to be more positive about our spiritual lives, and grow closer in relationship to Our Lord Jesus Christ!

God chooses what seems like foolishness to save people is what verse 2, 27, 28, 29 basically say to us. Christians are suppose to live as Jesus did, imitate His life. I have been thinking of this a lot lately, and how people are on a line, not willing to pick a side to go on. Reality is, that you can’t stay on that line forever, or you’ll just end up falling harder than ever before. You need to pick a side, which is either God’s side, or the worlds side. If you pick God’s side, some may think it’s foolish, but people will be able to see a positive difference in your attitude and lifestyle that can leave such a huge impact on an individual. For example, friends think it’s foolish that I don’t like partying, or doing other things they do because I have higher morals, but it makes it clear to them that I have something different and more important in my life. It brings a certain frustration to others, because they try to figure out ways why I’m not like them, and why I do these “foolish” things like go to church, work at a camp, go to worship services instead of going out partying. They get so frustrated that they end up asking me questions as to why I do these things, which opens doors for me to share my faith! People can get saved in this way, and the stronger we are with our “foolish” ways, the more they’ll ask questions, and we could be used to save their lives!

So often we listen to others advise who seem wiser and stronger instead of turning right to God and asking Him ourselves. Why do we do these things? In verse 25 it states that God is wiser than the wise, and stronger than the strongest, so why wouldn’t we just ask Him? Why don’t we take His advise? Does it really seem that foolish? We want help, and we turn to other humans who have their own troubles and faults, instead of turning to our Lord who is capable of all things, and who has no faults, who is wiser and stronger than anyone we could ever imagine! I challenge you to focus more on asking God what He wants for your life, instead of turning to someone who seems wise and strong. God is the Almighty, and I pray that you never forget that. Take His word first, do His will for you first. Forget worldly things and focus on Him, because in the end, that is all that will ever matter.

At the end of the day, we answered a few questions to ourselves and then had a quiet time with the Lord in prayer. I challenge you to think really hard about these questions, and possibly play some nice worship songs in the background to really get your mind set on God. This worked wonders for everyone at the camp, and I’m sure it’ll help you figure out a few things for your own life as well.

First question : What is a good decisions that I have made in my life, + what did I base that decision on?
Second question : What is one wrong decision that I made + what can I learn from the difference?
Third + final question : What will I base my decisions on now?

Now, on Sunday, our last day together we looked at John 13 where we focused on having a servants heart. We talked about how we thought Jesus felt as He was being prepared to die on the cross, and what He was thinking. No matter how many times He was portrayed as something that He was not, and tortured for reasons unknown, He was always still so noble, kind and humble. He was never bitter towards anyone, not even the ones who brought Him tons of pain and suffering. He set a huge example for us, and I think we really need to think about His actions way more often than we do already. Next time someone starts gossiping about you, don’t cause a big fuss or get angry, just sit back and pray. Pray for them, and act humble towards them. Think, what would Jesus do? Even though this is such a common saying, how many times do you actually think about it during your day to day life?

In John 13 we are told the story where Jesus’ disciples were unwilling to serve as a servant to wash each others feet because they felt like they were higher power than a servant. They thought they were too good to do that type of work. Meanwhile, once Jesus watched them not being willing to serve, He knelt down and soaked the cloth and washed the feet of His disciples. The disciples tried to stop Him, saying that they were not worthy enough to have their feet washed by Him. Jesus taught them that you should never be bold, and think that you are a part of a much higher class to be able to “sink down” to someone else’s level. We are all made the same, and should all be treated with respect. Jesus showed them as well as us that in this particular story. We are put on this earth to be a servant to others, but mostly a servant to God. We need to be willing to do the things we don’t want to do to be able to show God’s love through our actions by serving others.

During our Reflection time, we were asked to answer these two questions. Do I need to be washed spiritually? Am I willing to be a servant? We then did an exercise where we had to go wash our hands in a bowl of water, than later on we took face clothes and soaked them in the water and went up to someone in the room and asked permission to wash each others hands + then tell them that you are willing to serve them whenever they need anything. It was a really great exercise because it’ll all be something that we will always cherish and remember. Instead of just reading and talking about it, we also had a visual, which at some points got emotional, and just really moving. I think it would be a great idea for other church settings.

I think we often think of others when we try to answer the question “Do I need to be washed spiritually”. We compare ourselves to others around us, and how we act better than them, or whatever it may be, therefore we think that they may need spiritual cleanliness, but we shouldn’t have to because we don’t do bad things like they do. We need to stop comparing ourselves to others. It’s about OUR relationship with God, not their relationships with God. We need to focus on how God looks down at our lives, and what He sees. Yes, everyone struggles, but not everyone takes a step to fixing their problems the right way, not everyone turns to God and asks to be washed spiritually. We need all our worldly thoughts and ways to be washed away and made new for our spiritual lives and relationship with God. It’s a must, not something you can think about for a while, and decide later. Pray about it, seek God’s grace and wisdom. Stop looking upon others lives, it has nothing to do with yours. Focus on yourself, and what God wants for you. Without God, without the cross and Jesus, we would be living worse than what we already are living now. We owe it to Him to give Him our lives, and let him cleanse every part of it. So what are you waiting for?

Being a servant of God may seem foolish to others, but like I said previously in this post, God uses what seems to be foolish things to the world, to save people. Start helping and serving others. Serve God first, serve others second, serve yourself third. Be humble towards others, and work closer to them, even if it’s difficult; God will give you strength. You just need to have faith.

Sending much love and blessings your way,

SaraKath.

Why are you singing?

Okay, so, I haven't done a blog in awhile because on the 7th day in the devotional book, we're suppose to look at everything we learned within the whole week, but I feel like I want to make it a bit different. So, for this post, I'm going to challenge you to comment why you're singing, after watching this video by clicking here!

I was looking back through my facebook links that I had posted, and I found so many good videos that I had forgotten about, including this one! :) Enjoy + be sure to comment to tell me why you're singing! :)

I'll be the first to say why I'm singing.. I'm singing because I have a wonderful family who I love, and because of all the endless opportunities that God has given me! + although people judge me, God never does. THAT is why I'm singing! :)

Day #6 : God Reveals Himself.

Today, we'll be READing from Exodus 33:21-34:7. I will no longer be putting the verses in my blogs, because I feel that everyone should take out their bibles while doing this so that maybe God can show you something that I obviously can't. If you do not have a bible, do not fear! Type in the passage that we are about to go through in google, and you will be able to find them no problem! & If you have a problem with any of this, that's fine, just message me and I'll do the best to help you out! :)

Once you are done reading the passage, you should read it twice more, once while THINKing about all the little details God has put into this that during your first read, you passed over and never noticed. Think about the scenes, picture it all happen; and for the third time you read it, you should find a word or two that God uses in this passage that really stands out to you. For example, for me, it's when He says to Moses, "... cover you with my hand until I've passed by."

When God says this, the first thing that comes to mind is the past and future. God does not want us to see what our future holds, because He has it already planned. He doesn't want us to plan it ourselves, He wants us to trust in Him and carry on until we meet our future. He gives us free will to test us, we need to be the strong ones who chose to do the right things instead of doing wrong when we know we are doing so. I think by God not letting Moses see His face was kind of like an image to me of not seeing the future. His back was a metaphor of the past. We can only look at his back, because we can only see the back end of our lives. We are human beings, and we are suppose to wonder about the future, what will happen, and what we will do when certain situations come our way. Lucky for us Christians, God has a plan and takes control of our life, but only if we let Him. Are you ready to give everything to Him? If you're not, you will not be able to see a direct change in your life, and let me tell you from experience, that direct change, is absolutely incredible! We need to fully focus on Him, and give everything up to Him because He gave up everything that mattered to Him to save us, to give us freedom!

Although a lot of us still struggle, (okay, let's face it guys, we all struggle, but don't worry, you're not alone, and it'll all be worth it in the end!) God still has a plan for us. If we listen, He's right there telling us exactly what He wants from us. Like God did with not showing His face, He wants our imaginations to wonder, and don't worry guys, God always goes way beyond our imaginations! Therefore, if you let Him, He will show you the true beauties that lay underneath and on top of this planet, and it'll be out of our wildest imaginations! How crazy is that? How awesome is God? Like really guys, I want you to imagine the most beautiful thing you have ever seen, and focus on that for a little bit. Then, I want you to think how much more beautiful that really is to God, and how much more beautiful He is, and what His plans are for you! Isn't it insane to think about? Someone could care for us that much, that He makes everything beautiful in our eyes when we accept Him. How much more beautiful things are with Him in our lives is indescribable! If God allows it by taking away all the clouds, I want you all to star gaze tonight. The stars are something that just keep me wondering, and keep me in awe of God. Make a date with God tonight, lay out under the stars while listening to worship songs, then just close your eyes and think about how big God has to be to create everything. The Bible says that God is a star breather, and the best thing is, we can never even imagine how HUGE God is! He is the Giant of all Giants, and the Bible also states that He is the best protector, so what do we have to fear, if God is all ours? He's our best friend remember? Which is also awesome since, with God everything is possible! :)

People say life is like a roller coaster, and let me tell you, that on God's roller coaster, you get the most pleasure in life. Sure you always have ups and downs, but His goes the highest, and as long as you have Him, you aren't going far down, and even when do slide down from the top, He's always there to catch you and bring you back up in no time! How many other roller coasters can promise you that? None that I can think of. He's one of a kind, and an amazing creator. We need to see more of His beauty in everyday situations and life. Until we do, we are bound to be miserable for as long as we can accept to be different. He is always there for us, so why not appreciate that by acknowledging Him more in our every day routines? Better yet, change your routines to be closer to Him. That's what love is all about right? Making time for you loved ones, and acknowledging them like they should be acknowledged! Fly above worldly things, look at them from above, and be glad that you don't need to suffer like the ones who do not know God. He will pick you up, so you will never need to know what it feels like to be without Him. All you need to do is believe and to have faith. God will carry you through anything and everything, but without faith in Him, you will not believe, and without belief, nothing will happen. I encourage you to believe in God more, because even if we do not want to think about it, or talk about it, everyone has their doubts about what God is saying, or doing in our lives, but have faith and believe that He is the One and Only God, and He is capable of ALL things. We just need to surrender, and love Him and trust in Him, and when we do, we are forever welcomed into an eternity of happiness and love!

If you feel ashame of anything that has happened in your past, or even that's happening now, stop worrying about it. God is a great forgiver, and He will pull you through any difficult things that you are going through, and He will not hold anything you have done in the past against you. Believe it, and live it. He wants you to know that you don't need to try and hide anything from Him, He knows all already. Talk to Him about it. He's gracious, and loving, He will not punish you, because you have punished yourself for long enough. He is here to help you get through all struggles, so don't worry and don't be scared. He loves you, and He is there for you with His arms wide open waiting for you. Think about that next time you feel down, and if you feel like you are a part of something that you shouldn't be, fix it. Do what God is calling you to do, not what the world is calling you to do. Love life, not because of worldly things, but because God has made this beautiful place ours, and it's our job to do what God wants for it, and us. Step up your game, jump out of your comfort zone, because it's SO worth it in the end!

PRAY that He shows you something that is striking you in curiosity about Him. Make sure you believe that He will show you an answer, and be sure to listen to everything He says. He might not show you right away, but if you are patient and without doubt, He will continue to show you great things! Whatever it is that makes you curious about Him, think about why you are so curious about this exact trait. Why is it so desirous to you? If you don't know why, ask God why it is. He knows all, and there is not one question that He does not have an answer for, He just might not chose to answer you right away. At the end of your prayer, let everything you prayed about drift in your mind and heart again. Feel what you were thinking and talking to God about.

Picture God present in your life, physically and emotionally. Where would He be? What expression is on His face? If He's speaking to you, what tone are His words in? Ask Him to enhance this picture, and not for only today, but for the rest of eternity. Think about this whenever you can, about if He was physically with you, and you could physically see Him, what would be the answers to these questions.

The whole point of your life, is to LIVE, so live your life for God. Its not about what we want, but what He wants. If you feel like what He wants is not clear enough, ask Him to reveal it all to you. Also pray that while you look to Him in prayer, readings of His Scriptures, or even in everyday things, that He reveals Himself to you. Once you do this, be sure to look for Him in everything you do. You will be able to find Him in places where you have never before!

Much love! & Praying for you all!

Day #5: The Bread God Has Given.

Alright, so, welcome to my new blog site! :) I'm hoping to be able to get more feedback on this one, or at least feel better about my blog. It's been quite a long time since I have written one of these, so please forgive me. I'm a slacker, and it's something I'm working on. If you all would like to help, encouragement always does the mind and soul good! ;) Haha!

So, here we go with day numero cinco!

First step is to always READ the passage. Todays passage comes from Exodus 16:9-16.

Exodus 16:9-16 (King James Version)

9And Moses spake unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the LORD: for he hath heard your murmurings.

10And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud.

11And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

12I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God.

13And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host.

14And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground.

15And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.

16This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents.

Now, the second step is to read it again slowly, and concentrate on all the emotions the Israelites were feeling. The emotions while they were complaining, the excitement once they noticed God's glory in the clouds, this amazing gift of bread God has given from the heavens, and the satisfaction of not having to worry about having enough.

In this devotional, it says to THINK about what your complaint to God would be at this very moment. Don't try to figure one out, just let it come to you. After it comes to you, think about any signs that God has given you, or ways that He has told you that He will provide your needs; that He will solve each complaint, within His own time, and His own ways; we just need to be patient.

I know how hard it can be to struggle with something and to try and be patient. A lot of the times, I think God answers us right away, but we're to focused on our struggles to really hear what He is telling us. We focus more on worldly issues and things, instead of putting all our focus on the line for God. He wants all of our attention, and if He has it, we will no doubt hear His words and plans for us. Patience is very important in anyones life. We all need it, and most of us struggle very hard with patience, with either not having enough of it, or having so much that we hold back what's really on our minds. Most of us struggle with having enough, but if we do focus on God, He will provide us with plenty of patience, we just really need to focus on Him, and only Him.

This makes me think of how rough my year of 2009 was. I was struggling so much, and became very depressed with everything that was going on in my life. Finally, I realized that, even though I felt like I was giving everything to God, something was still holding me back, which was anger. I was angry about certain things, and frustrated to the point where I had no idea what to do with my life, or how to handle myself anymore. I was just looking for answers, but without really paying attention to all the signs God was giving me. I was worried about my dad being sick, and I was worried about my life in university, and where I wanted to go next year. I had a rough couple of months right before Christmas, but just one day, God told me not to worry, because no matter what I need, He will provide and that He had a plan for my life.

I just find that a lot of us waste our time complaining about stupid things that will not matter in the end. We complain about the way others act, meanwhile we act very similar. We all get annoyed so easily it seems, but honestly, I think that's just the world getting to us. We need to remember that this planet, is not our home, heaven is. This is our temporary living space, which God has given us to show the world how beautiful and glorified He and his children are. It is our job to provide to others like He provides us. We are set on this earth to do His work, and to help others the best way that we can. Now, who's going to make the first step? We can sit back and keep putting it off as long as we want, but the longer we do so, the more miserable we will become, and the more miserable the people we could be helping will become as well. We need to get out there, and trust that God will provide us with what we need to provide for others. He is the key to any type of success, and He is the key to a healthy heart and soul. We need Him to survive this world, and we need to trust in Him to provide everything we need, instead of complaining about the things we don't have, and worrying about how to get them. If they are things that we need, God will give it to us, in some way. He is the best provider there is, and we don't want to miss out on any of Him just because we'd rather sit back and be stressed out about whatever it is that is bothering us.

Hopefully this is all making sense, and if it's not I'm sorry. When I write these blogs, I kind of just go with the flow. I never check them over, which I know I should, but I feel like this is the best way to get what's in my head out. I honestly do believe that God uses me to do this for a reason too, and that a lot of what I'm saying I don't even realize until later, because God puts it on my heart to say it right away. He's using me to talk about His word, and His ways, which I think is pretty neat. I think He tells everyone a lot, and at first, when He told me to start this blog, I didn't listen, but since I have started it, I have gotten so blessed, and it really did open a lot of doors, and I mean, that's really neat since I just started! God really is an amazing provider, and I write all this down because I don't want anyone to miss out on it anymore. It's so much more fun to live a life that is full of God than to worry and be frustrated for most of your life. Then again, I full on believe that, to be happy, you need to want to be happy, and try to be happy, then it eventually becomes natural. At least, that's exactly what happened to me. and I feel like it completely changed my outlook on life. God really spoke to me when He said that, and it's something we all must know. I had a lot of questions for Him, and He provided me with answers! I now know what I'm going to be doing next year, I'm more focused on Him, He made me see things that I was blinded by before, and He just made me so much more excited for life! Make sure that you don't miss out on anything just because of some stupid struggles. Life is more than just that, be adventurous in spirit! God will provide you with great experiences and beauties! You just need to trust in Him!

If you have a hard time seeing what God has provided you with, well I encourage you to PRAY for Him to show you exactly what He did provide you with through your complaint. The cool thing about God is that He doesn't have a secretary. You don't need to leave a message after the beep, He just answers your call right away, and He always gets back to you with answers! That is, as long as you believe that He will, because without belief, you just have a bunch of hope, and even though hope is always good, unless you believe, whatever you're hoping for rarely actually happens. He's your best friend, and He is always there for you! So don't hold back, don't be scared, just talk to Him, tell Him what's on your mind! Even if He already knows it, He appreciates when you communicate with Him. That's what He needs from you, and until you do that, the providing will not be as noticeable to you.

Now, for the LIVE part of this devotional blog. You need to sit quietly with all your attention on God. Feel His "enoughness" in you, the satisfaction you have within Him. There shall never be any dissatisfaction when it comes to our Lord. So I pray for all of you to just sit in His glory, and acknowledge His work, and everything He has provided you with. I also pray that He provides you with whatever you are searching for. Since honestly, who in this world isn't searching for something?

Until next time!

Day #4: Learning to pay Attention

READ Exodus 3:1-6 aloud.

Exodus 3

1Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.

2And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

3And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.

4And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

5And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

6Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

This passage describes a very exciting encounter that Moses had with God. He witnessed what we humans would never think would be possible! It made meTHINK of the time I was on a missions trip in Argentina, and a little girl from home gave me a drawing to give to another little girl in Argentina. She thought it would be a nice gesture and I agreed that when I met a little girl whom I thought would love the picture, I would give it to her. The picture was of snow in our beautiful Canadian home, and no child from Argentina has ever seen snow.

So I was in church the last Sunday before we left, and a little girl runs up to me and wants me to pick her up. Of course, I do so and start dancing with her during worship. At the time, I had braces, and she was fascinated by them and kept touching them. (it was a little gross, but heck, it was a beautiful little girl from Argentina. I couldn’t just ship her back to her mother! I wanted to spend the most time with her as possible. Haha. Although, I did shut my mouth pretty quickly once she reached for them again.) Anywho, on our way out of the church, I stopped the child, and told her that I had something special for her and her brother. I took out my purse, and searched for that picture that I wanted to give her. I had a friend beside me helping me. I looked everywhere in my purse and could not seem to find it. I emptied everything out onto a table, and proceeded to give them candy because I felt bad to have lost the real gift that I wanted to give her. I prayed to God to help me find this picture, and I had almost lost hope. I turned back around to search for it again, and there it was, on top of the pile of stuff that I took out of my purse! I turned to my friend, and asked if she had seen it there before, and she shook her head no. We were both amazed that God did such an amazing thing. He placed that there for me to give to that little girl. No matter how hard I looked for it before, it was nowhere to be found, but once I asked God to show it to me, He graciously placed it on top of the pile for me to see. Seriously, how amazing is that? Have you ever encountered anything from God?

A lot of us feel like these types of encounters have to be visible to the human eye, but a lot of the times He sends us spiritual gifts/encounters as well. Kind of like my YWAM trip! He assured me that He had everything under control, and to not worry about right now, because tomorrow is a new day, and He had great plans for my life. Jesus is the most gracious gift we could ever receive, and we never even deserved Him. Especially after giving us His Son, you would think God would stop there wouldn’t you? He doesn’t though, and that’s what is so great! He is the best forgiver anyone could ever ask for, and He is willing to give us everything that we need as long as we live our lives for Him. When we are not sure about how to live for Him, or whatever else we’re unsure of, He is willing to tell us directly what we need to do. Whether it is to find a new church, new friends, or to fully start over, He is always right and even though we should never question His grace, love, affection or plans for us, He still allows us too. He wants us to understand His was each more everyday. How many best friends do you have that will do that no matter what time it is, or what else they are busy with? He is truly amazing and astonishing. He is the glorious of all glories, and all other glories come from Him.

Look around you, at the trees, the ocean, the sky… He created each and everyone of those things for us to see, so that we have even more reason to glorify Him. When was the last time you went for a nature walk, and looked at all the details that this earth has to offer? He knows everything about every single piece of being on this planet. He knows how many hairs are on your head, He made your eyes exactly the way He wanted them, He knows what’s within you, and He knows us better than we know ourselves. He is there with us every step of the way, and I don’t know about you, but He is the only friend that can promise me all these things, and literally sticking to His promise. Thank Him for your life every day, because of Him, every second is worth living if we truly believe in Him.

When God said “Remove your sandals from your feet. You’re standing on holy ground” I think He meant to remove worldly things, and focus on His holiness. How often do you acknowledge God’s holiness? How does God’s holiness make a difference in your life? Are you willing to put all man made things aside, and focus on God? No one said this life would be easy, but with God’s help, no matter what struggles you go through to get passed all the horror of society, it will all be worth it in the end. Focus on Him, and His love. Even thought there are times where we believe that God has let us down, He always brings something better in our lives through all the bad that happens to us, and our loved ones. Through every struggle that brings sadness, there will be a delightful day that we can rejoice in Him for bringing us smiles. He will never let you down, no matter what.

Now, some of you may feel like you have never had a real encounter with God, or maybe you are just uncertain if you have or not. I encourage you to PRAY to God right now, and ask Him to bring Himself to you. That He will share a special thought with you, through a sign, or through just listening to what He has to say. He is a great and mighty God, and if it is in His will, He will answer this prayer. If you are struggling with a decision, ask Him to send you a sign, you’ll be surprised on how often this works. The trick is, to believe that He actually will. Without believing, there is no receiving. Work on your relationship with God, and continue to pray to Him each and every day.

Moses only heard from God when He paid attention. We are a lot like Moses in a way; we only pay notice God when we pay attention to what goes on around us. I want you to be able to find a quiet place this week, where you can sit in awe of God. Spend some time in silence, where you can pay more attention to the things you usually neglect. These things may be situations, people, quiet moments with God, His creation, etc… While you sit there and think about these neglected things, look for ways that God is waiting to interact with you, but that you have never noticed before because of your lack of attention. We all do it, but now is the time to change it. We need Him to speak to us now more than ever before. Are you ready to LIVEthis life while committing to focusing more on what God has in store for you?

Much love,
SaraKath.
